Ongoing Professional Learning
Members of the Ontario College of Teachers are learners who acknowledge the interdependence of teacher learning and student learning. They engage in a continuum of professional growth to improve their practice.

Rationale

My commitment to ongoing professional learning is evident by my desire to take this course. I have also completed my Masters of Education degree, Honours Specialists in English, and my next course is going to be in Special Education. Although I will likely always take courses (I am addicted to school!), I also believe that I have learned just as much through my mentors and colleagues. Perhaps the most meaningful professional learning happens daily during short chats in the hall or while waiting for the photocopier. I also believe that effective professional learning happens on a more personal level as teachers reflect on their practice and use those insights to try new strategies.

Here is an example of a professional learning activity created by me to introduce new teachers to the e workshop site.
